A beautiful community of life, and its ancient forbearers, are what drew a determined community of people to begin to take better care of Manuels River in the 1980s. They realized that the well-being of the River is directly influenced by, and, simultaneously, influencing the well-being of the surrounding community.
They wanted the River to be enjoyed by future generations, so they set out to protect the river valley, educate the public about what treasures were held within, and encourage recreational activities alongside it with the trail system they started.
They formed Manuels River in 1989 and had the organization incorporated in 1992. Manuels River is governed by a volunteer board of directors elected at an annual general meeting and it has become the center of discovery.
