Manuels River Connects to The Coast!

Manuels River completes Phase 2A of the Trail Master Plan, enhancing its trail system and creating a world-class visitor experience to support tourism on the Northeast Avalon

September 1, 2020 – Conception Bay South, NL – Manuel River

Tourism is an inclusive sector that showcases Canada’s culture, diversity, natural beauty and unique experiences to the world. It delivers economic benefits to Manuels River as an organization and tourism attraction for the Town of Conception Bay South and the Avalon region. This is why the Manuels River has been so focused on improving and enhancing the Manuels River Trail System. Connecting the trails to the coast opens a new experience to visitors from near and far.

Today, Don Sword, Chair of Manuels River Natural Heritage Society, Inc. is pleased to announce the opening of the newly improved and expanded Ocean Trail East, the first of its Connected Trails. As a tourism attraction, Manuels River is committed to expanding what the trail system and access to the river can offer tourists, from all areas. The goal of Phase 2 of the Manuels River Trail Master Plan was to connect the trail system, from the Interpretation Centre to the Atlantic Ocean. The completion of this phase was accomplished through the funding support from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s – (ACOA)’s Canadian Experiences Fund (CEF), the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Town of Conception Bay South, and the many community donors who supported Manuels River’s contribution to this project.

Thanks to government support for projects like this one, Canadians and visitors to Canada will be able to experience scenic tourism. This phase of the Manuels River trail development has improved the current walking trails, with an emphasis on maximizing safety, accessibility and the visitor experience. This trail development made it possible to connect our centre to the ocean, opening up a view like no other. The Connected Trails will increase the possibilities of how we can grow as an organization; enhancing our tourism offerings as an economic driver for our community.
