Manuels River Holds AGM April 15, 2024
Manuels River Community Inc. held its Annual General Meeting on Monday evening April 15th, 2024 at the Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre.
The AGM received the 2023 audited financial statements, reappointed Brian T. Scammell as auditor, ratified the updated By-laws and received the 2023 annual report.
Chair Don Sword, Vice Chair Dave Works and Treasurer Doug Russell decided to not run again for executive roles.
They were part of the Joint Steering Committee to design, finance and construct the Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre that opened in 2013.
Since then, they have served in these executive roles. That means that, collectively, they have dedicated almost 50 years to our not-for-profit community-based organization. They have worked hard, and we wish them well.
At the AGM members voted to re-elect for two-year terms current directors Lori Collins, and Michelle Hawco. They join Jennifer Parsons, LoriLynn Rowsell and Allison Penton who continue to serve on the
board.
Neil Buckler, Ryan Lawlor, did not run again for the board. Joan Butler and Valerie Howe had terms that ended in 2025 but decided to resign from the board following the AGM.
After the AGM, the directors elected their executive officers for the upcoming year: Michelle Hawco will be the new Chair and Lori Collins will be the new Vice Chair.
They will recruit new board members to fill the vacancies and to fill the remaining two executive roles. The new board and executive thanked the outgoing directors and outgoing executive for their years of service to Manuels River.
The outgoing executive members all agreed to support the new executive in the transition and wished them well for a successful future at Manuels River. The Annual Report for 2023 including audited financial statements is posted on the Manuels River website www.manuelsriver.ca.
